Montane Gecko Ultra V+

I was very excited when this came out, so purchased it almost immediately.

First impressions are great, it is comfortable lightweight and functional. It is very breathable and I have never made it wet with my sweat. There is rarely any bounce however... When you start drinking water the bottles will sink to the bottom of the vest and start bouncing very badly. Could be fixed with stronger elastic around the bottle areas. I found best way was to inflate the bottles by blowing into them. On top of this the quality is not especially great, within a month of use the stitching started coming off in various places such as around the bottle areas and pockets. The pockets are pretty easy to rip and I did manage to do this by stuffing a midlayer into the sidepocket. The popper at the end of the zip has also ripped through the fabric. Because the fabric is so lightweight. Despite the fact it has polygiene, it smells bad pretty easily.

Overall not impressed and although coming from Montane which always makes great equipment, this seems not up to their normal standards. Nonetheless it is a great alternative to a bumbag or a heavier vest for shorter runs. Would not pay £100 for it, would consider if it was half the price.
