Short Front Hem Length
This is an excellent jacket that has kept me completely dry. The hood adjustments and fit are excellent. The sleeves are contoured so they cover the top of the hand and the sleeve length is longer which keeps you covered while reaching etc. The hand pockets are backed by mesh which helps with breathability. It's a shame the zippers are not longer as the pocket runs from the arm pit to nearly the bottom of the coat. This would have really opened it up to breathe more! My only complaint is a big one. The front hem is very short. It barely covers a mid layer fleece at the bottom. If paired with a 4.9 oz down coat for winter the coat billows out pulling the bottom hem up even more, exposing the bottom couple inches of the down coat. This makes it unusable in cold mixed conditions which I'm often in. The coat is also cut quite slim so it compresses the down reducing it's efficiency. Normally, I wear a Medium for base and mid layers so I order a Large shell to accommodate a down coat and layers. The Montane Large fits me like a medium in the shoulders and body but the sleeves are perfectly long and the hood excellent. If I went up to an XL the sleeves and hood would be way oversized. For reference I'm 5'10" and 175lbs.

First used on Munro number 81 Meall Ghaordaidh which was rough day . Jacket performed very well . I liked the hood and when fully zipped up it came up high on the face which is good when it is heavy rain .
I work for Tiso Perth and through choice most of my kit is Montane .
