Excellent shirt for those cooler days
I already have 3 of the standard dart zip neck shirts and this is a great addition giving me good options on cooler/windy days, particularly when there is little Sun to be seen. In comparison the cut of the XT is more generous, longer in the the tail and sleeves ensuring that you can keep out any cold breeze.
I was a bit concerned about the "thermal" description in that I do tend to sweat a lot which is not something you want in cold weather but other than the brushed back/inside to the shirt it is pretty difficult to pinpoint the differences to the "standard" dart.
I used this shirt for a romp round the Howgill fells 18/10/2025 starting at 8am 7C in a 8-10 mph wind. This shirt kept me warm enough and didn't make me sweat much at all which is unusual for the Howgills walk which has plenty of very steep stretches. By the afternoon it was 12C and the wind was up to 20-25 mph on the ridges, enough to make you seek shelter when taking a break. I had my shell jacket on by then, the combination kept me very comfortable and again no issues with sweating.
The XT claims to handle sub zero temperatures, which I am sure it would in a 3 layer system, int may even do in a 2 layer system if you don't feel the cold too much.
All in all I really like this shirt (I have already bought a second) and I expect to get a lot of use out of them over Winter, and cooler days of Spring and Autumn, even in Summer I will have one of these in the Lake District with me for those cooler days when there…

Winter Running Top
Bought this top to wear on those days when the wind from the North Sea is blowing hard and it can be quite cold out. I purchased a large which at 5ft 11 inches and 172 pounds fit me perfectly. In fact I liked it so much the very same day I ordered the same top in a different colour. As I have found with all Montane kit its well made and it does what its supposed to do which in this case is keep you warm. The zipped neck allows you to allow to regulate your temperature if you need to. Quick delivery with a defined time slot via DPD which also really helps.
