First the pros, this is a light and comfy backpack, just large enough to go lightweight backpacking for 1-2 nights.
Negatives.
Unpacking it for the first time, it feels very cheap and flimsy. If I had seen this in a store, rather than online there is no way I would have bought it. It doesn't feel like a £140 product.
The nylon fabric is ripstop, but the sides and back are made of a flimsy nylon mesh which is already holed on the first day of use. I'd be very selective of what I put in the pockets for fear of ripping through the mesh. I'm all for recycled materials, but I'm also after a product that has longevity.
The waist belt strap and buckle is way too small.
The "click and go" chest straps are very fiddly. Getting them to engage and release is hit and miss. The string toggles on the clips are always getting in the way of the clip engaging onto the shoulder strap. I'm not sure why they use a non standard clip here which would make it completely non repairable in the future when the clips break or wear. Also don't think that there needs to be two chest straps.
The roll top design is nice, but I missed having a top lid which is useful to secure items like clothing layers that won't fit inside the bag.
It doesn't seem to be even slightly weather proof, I hiked in low cloud and the inside of the bag became wet .
I didn't use the pole clips. I would be really cautious of attaching anything to the backpack that could damage the mesh.

This is a great versitile pack that I bought for an trip that required an overnight bag that had a removable frame to fit in the hatch of a kayayk
Its super comfy to wear and as a has the best hip belt pockets ive ever had as they can fit anything from tent poles to large mountaineering boots
Id say it feels more like a 50l bag but when its cinched down it can seem like a 30l
However I have had a reacuring problem with the hip belts strap ripping it happened once and montane sent me a replacement but its now ripping on the new one aswell
I really hope they can fix this in a new model as its an easy fix of using more stiching and webbing

Just finished Wainright’s Coasr to Coast using this bag. Very comfortable and can take a tent, sleeping gear, a cooking system, spare clothes and food. The older model doesn’t have the vertical zip for the front pocket, or the zip to access the main compartment, but this wasn’t an issue.
