About the Role:

Montane are looking to recruit an experienced Garment & Product Technologist to join our busy Design & Development department. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, have exceptional attention to detail and construction, and have the relevant experience in developing apparel and equipment.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Product Development Manager the successful candidate will be -

  • Responsible for prototypes, samples, and bulk production products across our full range being produced to the agreed specification.
  • Lead fit sessions with designers and critique products for fit, quality, and construction.
  • Make sure the most appropriate construction methods are used according to the products intended end use.
  • Provide detailed fit comments and next sample requirements to our suppliers in the far east.
  • Maintain, update and issue size charts and technical trim specifications for products on a seasonal basis.
  • Be proactive in tracking and requesting samples, adhering to a strict timetable, and updating critical paths.
  • Conduct wash testing of fabric, trims and product samples as needed.


    Qualifications and Skills

    The successful candidate will ideally have –

  • 3+ years’ experience.
  • A high degree of planning and organising skills.
  • An understanding of garment and equipment manufacturing processes, construction, and quality control procedures.
  • The ability to work closely within a team, but equally able to work using their own initiative.
  • Able to multitask and prioritise effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines within a busy department.
  • Strong and effective communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with team members and overseas suppliers.
  • Experience of working with offshore factories/suppliers.
  • Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft office competency.
